This longtimer—the first sushi bar in Washington when it originally opened in Glover Park in 1976—is more of a neighborhood spot these days than a destination. Opt for a table and you can count on a nice, tasty meal.
Snag a seat at the long, curved sushi bar, however, and suddenly you’re in line for a very good one. You won’t wait, sitting here, for the sometimes slow-moving staff to deliver a hand roll (thereby preserving its delicate crunch), and the sushi chefs will tell you what came in that day that’s especially good. If they show you the glistening belly of either a slab of tuna or yellowtail, strike quickly.
